Peter Canty

Peter Canty was born and raised in Laguna Beach, CA., and currently resides in North Berkeley. His seascapes are a reflection of his love for his seaside home, while his landscapes show the influence that the Bay Area has had on him. Canty's beloved oil paintings are a unique interpretation of modern impressionism. He does not work from any reference material; the imagery is a pure product of his imagination. His humble lifestyle compliments his simple, yet captivating works of art. Like a true outdoorsman, Canty loves all things found in nature, however seascapes, trees, and rocks are his favored subjects. In his spare time he enjoys playing the piano and writing. Before Peter devoted his life exclusively to painting, he was a professional writer.
